Matthew is a Partner with the firm and is one of the most experienced child law specialist solicitors in Manchester, having been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel for 25 years.

Born and educated in Oldham, he obtained a law degree from Durham University before working as a solicitor first in Oldham, then in Stockport, before moving and settling in Tameside over 20 years ago. 

He is a well known advocate in and around the Manchester area and tries to personally represent clients in hearings. His reputation is for giving honest straightforward advice to his clients, but always being willing to fight in Court to get a fair outcome in his cases.

He has been involved in many notable High Court and Court of Appeal cases including Op D (multi-party High Court trial), Re W (child abduction) amongst others.

Rachael is a Partner with the firm and joined in 2006 after passing her solicitors qualifying exams. Having lived in the area all her life she was educated locally and obtained her Law Degree from Leeds University in 2005.

Rachael was accepted onto the Law Society’s Children Panel of specialist solicitors in 2013 and has forged a reputation since then as one of Manchester’s most skilled children’s advocates.

Working exclusively on behalf of Children and their Cafcass Guardians, Rachael has dealt with some of the most difficult and complicated cases in the region over the past ten years. Whilst these cases are emotionally and intellectually challenging, she has a reputation for her quick grasp of complex issues and excellent technical knowledge of the Law.

With that background, Rachael regularly deals with High Court cases in Manchester and the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Popular and dedicated, she is a leading light in the Manchester Children Law community.

Charlotte is a Partner of Lord, Cox & Salt and has been with the firm since starting her training in 2017. She is a now a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel of specialist accredited solicitors.

Charlotte was born and raised in the Stockport area and graduated from Sheffield University before obtaining a Distinction in her Legal Practice Course. She is a familiar face to everyone who works in and around the Family Court in Manchester, particularly specialising in private law cases. She manages this department in the firm.

Since joining the Children Panel, Charlotte has been particularly absorbed with Private Law cases involving Children’s Guardians from Cafcass (Rule 16.4 cases). These are amongst the most difficult children cases in Court. An experienced advocate, she represents clients in Court on a daily basis.

She is a strong advocate for parents rights and has links with domestic abuse support organisations around Greater Manchester.

Olivia is from Chester but has lived in Manchester since 2017. She studied Law and Criminal Justice at Liverpool John Moores University then joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2021.

Since qualifying as a solicitor she has quickly built a strong reputation, specialising in private law cases for both privately funded and legally aided clients. Her work covers the areas of complex Child Arrangement Order applications (CAO’s) and Injunction work relating to children and domestic abuse applications. As with every member of our team, Olivia also supports parents in Child Care cases.

Olivia is passionate about building a strong, supportive rapport with her clients to help them every step of the way through Court proceedings, which are always emotionally draining. She is an increasingly experienced advocate and is there to support her clients both inside and outside the Court room.

Brandon is the newest member of the team, having qualified as a solicitor in 2024. He comes from Tameside and lives locally but studied Law and Politics at the University of Hull, before being awarded a Commendation in his Legal Practice Course and then starting his training contract.

He is the first point of contact for most clients who need specialist advice on Children matters including PLO cases with the local authority, emergency injunctions involving children and their parents, domestic abuse cases, and Child Arrangement Order disputes.

Brandon has quickly built up a reputation as a strong advocate for parent’s rights and regularly fights contested cases before the Court.

Kalesha is a Manchester local who has worked in the city since finishing her Law Degree at Liverpool University. Having come to the firm as a trainee, she qualified as a solicitor in 2023 and since then has increasingly been called on to deal with Care work in Court, but also with complicated PLO cases begun by social services.

Friendly and approachable, Kalesha is popular with parents of children who are involved with the Local Authority.  Her specialisation is in dealing with cases involving substance misuse, mental health problems and domestic abuse. Her clear understanding of these issues helps her to give parents the best possible advice to make sure that children stay at home.

Passionate and dedicated about her work, Kalesha has quickly built up an excellent reputation and is one of the most popular young solicitors in the Manchester area.

Carole joined the firm in February 2023 and is now secretary to Kalesha Titchen and Olivia Bourne. She has over 30 years’ experience working in Family Law firms in Tameside and is well known and highly respected throughout the Manchester profession.

Having attempting to retire in 2021 and finding this wasn’t for her, Carole made a welcome return to work in Family Law in 2022.

Fiona works as Matthew’s assistant and came to work with the firm when Lord Cox & Salt demerged from Pluck Andrew Solicitors. Fiona has long experience in Family Law firms having worked at Ayres Waters in Stockport before then working in Human Resources at Huddersfield University.

She is now making a welcome return to Family Law!

Stephanie has 14 years experience as a legal assistant in both private practice and local authority legal departments.

With a CILEX qualification in family practice, Steph is a very safe pair of hands and an invaluable support to Charlotte and Brandon. She has been with the firm since 2021.

Tracy is one of the firms longest serving assistants, having worked for Rachael when she was a trainee solicitor. She went to work for another local firm when Rachael had children but has now returned “home”.

Tracy is an invaluable support to Rachael as her assistant dealing with children and Guardian work and has over 30 years experience working in law.
